The Forum is an exclusive annual gathering of up to 40 senior professionals, bringing together in-house counsel from leading private fund sponsors, alongside senior lawyers from across the UK and Europe.
Together, they engage in candid, high-level discussions on the evolving legal, regulatory, and commercial challenges shaping the private funds industry, while sharing practical insights and best practices on fund formation, fundraising, governance, and investor relations.

Chris joined Vitruvian Partners as General Counsel in 2018. In 2019, he was also appointed as Vitruvian’s Chief Risk Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (UK Senior Manager Function 17), as well as assuming responsibility for Compliance Oversight (UK Senior Manager Function 16). Chris is also a Director of Vitruvian Partners Limited and various other Vitruvian Partners entities. Chris is currently a member of the BVCA Legal and Accounting Committee and was previously a member of Invest Europe’s Financial Services / Regulatory Working Group. In 2021 Chris was awarded the “Legal and Compliance Professional of the Year” at The Drawdown Awards. From 2014 to 2018, Chris was an Executive Director & Senior Counsel at Goldman Sachs, where he supported the Merchant Banking Division, the Principal Strategic Investments Division and various Firmwide Investments. Prior to Goldman, Chris was at Slaughter and May (a UK law firm) for nine years, where he specialised in public and private M&A.
Peter is General Counsel at CapVest, responsible for all Legal matters at the firm as well as oversight over the CoSec and Compliance functions. Prior to joining CapVest, Peter spent 3.5 years at Oakley Capital as Head of Funds Legal, and prior to that worked in the Private Funds team at Weil, Gotshal and Manges.
Committee Members
Christopher Cartwright is a Managing Director in Brookfield's Global Client Group. In this role, he focuses on the legal aspects of private fund formation, specifically private funds and separately managed accounts in Europe and the Middle East.
Mr. Cartwright joined Oaktree in 2016 and was a managing director in the legal department. Prior to that, he worked in the investment management group of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.
Mr. Cartwright holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge, where he read Law. He is also a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
Rita leads the global legal team responsible for all fundraising activity and fund-related legal matters across EQT’s strategies and asset classes.
Prior to joining EQT, Rita served as Group General Counsel at InfraRed Capital Partners and Selwood Asset Management. Her career spans private practice and senior in-house legal leadership roles, specializing in complex investment fund structures and governance.
