Forum Overview

The Steering Committee welcomes a small group of personally selected CISOs, CSOs, public sector representatives and other cyber security experts to participate in discussions focused on the complex cyber security landscape and the issues that confront businesses, critical infrastructure, government, and everyday Canadians, now and in the future.

 

Using candid, seminar-style discussion, this Forum identifies trends and developments for meaningful dialogue on the most pressing issues of the day.

As Senior Director, Planning and Implementation, Judith supports the Catalyst team in delivering exceptional programming, seizing partnership and growth opportunities, and scaling operations while maintaining its exceptional culture. Prior to joining the Catalyst, Judith founded a policy consulting firm, providing policy, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement advice to private, public and not-for-public firms operating in the cybersecurity, fintech, talent development, and environmental sectors. Prior to starting her own firm, Judith spent over a decade as a policy leader in economic development and small business support portfolios with the Government of Ontario, including as the director of policy to the Minister of Economic Development and Growth.

As Vice-President, Corporate Security & Responsibility, Marc leads a team responsible for managing all facets of Bell Canada’s security, safety, environmental, and sustainability programs. His key responsibilities include security risk governance, information and cybersecurity, personnel security, investigations, retail loss prevention, fraud management, business continuity, and emergency management amongst other things. As part of his functions, Marc is accountable for periodic reporting of the company’s security performance to BCE’s Board of Directors and its committees.  

 

He is an active member of the International Security Management Association (ISMA), the Canadian Security Telecommunications Advisory Council (CSTAC), the Telecom Security Association (TSA), and a member of the Advisory Committee for the Conference Board of Canada’s Cyber Security Centre. Marc is also the Chairman of the Board of CCTX, a non for profit organization created to support the sharing and analytics of cyber threat information across sectors and with other sharing hubs to help protect Canadian businesses, governments, and consumers, and strengthen Canada’s economic prosperity.  

 

Marc holds a Bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Montreal and a Master's degree in Applied Sciences from Polytechnique Montréal. Marc also holds a diploma from the International Research Centre on Management (CIREM), and he has completed the Director Education Program with the Institute of Corporate Directors and has achieved the ICD.D designation for his commitment to excellence in the boardroom.

Chris Lynam is currently the Director General of the National Cybercrime Coordination Unit and Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre within the RCMP. He led extensive work and consultations with other government departments, law enforcement partners across Canada and the private sector to conceptualize and design a national cybercrime coordination mechanism for Canada. He previously worked for Public Safety Canada and within the Security and Intelligence Secretariat of the Privy Council Office where he was part of the team that supported the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister. Outside the RCMP, he is a member of the Army Reserve and previously served as the Lieutenant-Colonel Commanding of the Governor General’s Foot Guards, an Infantry Regiment based in Ottawa.

Linda Van den Brink is the Managing Director of the Specialty Insurance Claim Unit at Travelers Canada. She oversees the team of claim professionals handling all Specialty Claims including Directors & Officers Liability, Errors & Omissions, Crime, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary, Cyber Liability and Kidnap & Ransom.  

 

Linda holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Dalhousie University, an MSc in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (2009) and she did her articles at a large Toronto Law firm, with a focus on Commercial Litigation and Labour & Employment Law.  

 

Before joining Travelers in June 2017, Linda worked as Senior Claims Counsel handling complex claims in all specialty lines. Linda’s claims experience includes managing large cross-border securities class actions and claims in foreign jurisdictions against large private and public Canadian companies. Linda has also been handling Cyber claims for over 5 years.  

 

Linda has extensive experience and training in the field of alternative dispute resolution in both the private and non-for-profit sectors. Before pursuing her law degree, she worked in the non-for-profit sector as a Mediator. She completed the Advanced Certificate in Dispute Resolution from York University.

Most recently, she launched a successful national advocacy campaign for the live music sector resulting in significant relief funding from the federal government. 

 

Her early career involved raising funds and executing events for non-profit organizations and foundations, including the University of Toronto and the Ireland Fund of Canada. Brenna looks forward to her role as Forum Director to blend her experience and passion for bringing people together and fostering meaningful connections. 

 

She is a mother of two, a fitness enthusiast, and is best known for her sense of humour.
